Finnish Coffee Bread
very good, can be used for cinnamon rolls
Ingredients
1 cup milk (scalded)
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening (or lard)
3 eggs
10 cardamom pods crushed
4 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
2 yeast cakes dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water

Instructions
Cream shortening and sugar
Add scalded milk and salt
Add beaten eggs and cardamom seeds, cool to lukewarm
Add yeast, add flour. Knead on floured board.
Let rise until double about 2 hours
Shape into braided loaves, let rise double. Put in oven
Brush top with egg white, sprinkle sugar over.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes
